I’ve just finished transcribing the latest Sling TSi POH revision 3.2 (2023-12-13) into Garmin Pilot. If you fly a Sling TSi and use Garmin Pilot on your mobile device, you can now drop the file straight into your app and have the full checklist at your fingertips. You probably will want to customize the checklist for your equipment and workflows.

If you’re on the Sling Discord, you’ll also find an .ace version already available thanks to fellow builder Brian Malcolm (N935WS), which works with G3X avionics. Between the two, you should be covered no matter where you prefer to run your checklists.
A Quick Note on Formats (Because Garmin Loves Formats)
Of course, nothing in aviation software can ever be straightforward. Garmin Pilot uses its own .gpits format for checklists, while the Garmin G3X avionics use .ace.
.gpits→ proprietary binary file, editable only inside Garmin Pilot or with Garmin’s Checkset tool..ace→ plain-text format used in Garmin avionics, editable with the ACE Checklist Editor, Garmin’s older PC tools, or even directly with a text editor.
Why two incompatible formats for the same company’s ecosystem? Because apparently someone at Garmin thought “You know what pilots need? Another binary proprietary format.”
Editing Options
- In Garmin Pilot: You can create or modify
.gpitschecklists directly in the app. - With Checkset: Garmin also offers the Checklist Editor (Checkset) for PC, which lets you build or edit
.gpitsfiles and then import them into Garmin Pilot. Here’s the link. - For G3X avionics: The
.acefiles can be managed with the ACE Checklist Editor, but since they’re plain text you can also open them directly in Notepad or any text editor.
So depending on where you want to use your checklist, you may end up maintaining two separate files. Welcome to Garmin’s version of fun.
That’s it for now. Download the file, give it a try, and let me know if you run into any snags. And if you’re a Sling pilot who prefers the avionics version, head over to Discord and grab Brian’s .ace checklist.
